Wahai Maha Penyayang, jika sahabatku rindu, jagalah rindunya pd Mu. Agar dia tidak lalai dari merindui syurgaMu..."

Recipe for diz Week:BASIC CRUST

Hari ni gedik nak start kelas membuat pai(pie), gedik pn bukan la expert sangat… So kalo ade buah fikiran, share2 r.. Bleh la kite membuat pai yang sedap, lazat, lagi berkhasiat untuk di sajikan kepada tetamu, kengkawan mahupun dermawan..wahkahkah!!
Untuk starting dia, kite belajar buat kerak (crust) je dulu. Kalo korang nak jugak wat inti dia walopun belum belajar lagi.. Korang letak la kari ke, nasik ke (ala2 kerak tu jadi pinggan), tak nak letak pape pn bleh.. Simpan je kerak tu dalam almari kace bersame sume pinggan mangkuk jenama arcopal, alcoroc, pyrex ke, etc korang tu ye…

BASIC CRUST

This is the perfect crust for fruit-based pies as well as for savoury tarts:

280 g (10 oz) plain flour
1/8 tsp salt
115 g (4 oz) vegetable shortening
115 g (4 oz) cold unsalted butter
1 large egg
2 tsp white vinegar
2 tbsp ice-cold water

Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut the vegetable shortening and butter into small chunks and add to the flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or two knives in a criss-crossing motion, blend the butter and shortening into the flour mixture until it has the consistency of damp sand, with few pea sized pieces of butter and shortening remaining.

Using a fork or wire whisk, beat the egg with the vinegar and water. Slowly pour the egg mixture over the flour, stirring only until the mixture moist. The dough should stick together and be able to hold the form of a ball. Divide the dough into two balls and wrap each one in plastic wrap. Smooth each ball of dough with a rolling pin so it forms a flat disc that fills the corners of the plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for a minimum of half an hour. (If it has been chilled for a long time, it may need to soften slightly before use.)

To roll out the crust, unwrap one disc and place on a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough from the centre of the disc to the edge, until the crust is the desired thickness (usually 3 mm or 1/8 in thick) and at least 2.5 cm wider than the pie dish. If the dough is sticking to the rolling pin, try placing a sheet of plastic wrap over it and then rolling it out.

Remove the plastic wrap and transfer the crust into the pie dish by rolling it onto the rolling pin and then positioning it over the pie dish. If the crust is sticking to the rolling surface, carefully separate it by sliding a sharp knife or metal spatula between the crust and the rolling surface.

Carefully press the dough into the pie dish. If any cracks appear during the transfer, use lightly floured fingers to push the seams back together. For single crust pies, crimp the edge decoratively, using your fingers or fork tines. Dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you wish to freeze the crust, first roll out the dough and line your pie dish. Once the crust is frozen, gently remove it from the pie dish and freeze in a large freezer bag for up to 3 months. Makes enough for two 20- or 23-cm (8- or 9-in) pie crust.

QUICK & EASY SHORTCUT:
Grate chilled pie dough into the middle of a 23-cm (9-in) pie dish. Press evenly into the plate, beginning in the centre and working outwards, until the crust covers the bottom and sides of the dish. Crimp the edge decoratively.

Basic crust variations

Citrus crust:
prepare the basic crust, adding the zest of 1 lemon (1 to 2 teaspoons) to the flour mixture, and using 2 teaspoons of lemon juice in place of white vinegar.

Wholemeal crust:
prepare the basic crust, reducing the plain flour to 140 g (5 oz) and adding 140 g (5 oz) wholemeal flour.

Cinnamon crust:
prepare the basic crust, adding 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the flour mixture.

Cheddar crust
:
prepare the basic crust, increasing the flour to 335 g (12 ½ oz) and adding 1 tablespoon of sugar to the flour mixture. Reduce the vegetable shortening to 85 g (3 oz). once the butter and shortening have been blended, cut in 115 g (4 oz) of grated mature cheddar cheese until just incorporated. Increase the ice water as necessary.

Polenta crust:
prepare the basic crust, reducing the plain flour to 215 g (7 ½ oz). add 85 g (3 oz) polenta to the flour mixture.

Green goddess

Ari nih kite citer pasal beauty plak.. Baru r menarik n penuh berinformasi blog nih.. Hope uols gain some thing from it. ...enjoy....

Behold! Natural, eco-conscious ways to get gorgeous and protect the earth

By Jenna Mahoney

Clean your beauty routine
No one's asking you to slap mayo on your face, bathe in patchouli or give up your highlights. A few easy tweaks can make a world of difference to your looks and to the planet.

Face: Wash wisely. Single-use synthetic cleansing pads may be handy, but they also clog landfills. Consider removing makeup with a washcloth made from organic fibers such as bamboo. "The ultrasoft material gently exfoliates even the most sensitive skin," says Victoria Raisky, holistic beauty therapist at Greenhouse Holistic, a spa in Brooklyn, New York. Plus, the textile, taken from the pulp of bamboo grass, is naturally resistant to bacteria—that's good for your face and your laundry pile.

Body: Save H20. Could the runoff from your showers fill a swimming pool? Conserve water by exfoliating before you get under the spray. Some days, swap your favorite scrub for a natural-fiber-bristle brush, sweeping skin in short, upward strokes, suggests Jeannette Graf, M.D., a dermatologist in Great Neck, New York. Post-shower, pat damp skin with an organic oil such as almond or avocado to lock in moisture. Unlike lotion, oil penetrates skin almost instantly.

Hair: Beat the heat. It would take two trees 10 years to absorb the carbon dioxide you create from blow-drying 10 minutes a day for just one year. To lessen drying time, use a towel to soak up excess water, then air-dry hair almost completely. At the salon, ask for Baliage, an aluminum foil–free highlighting method that doesn't require sitting under a dryer. "Hair will be stronger and shinier," says Clay Patané of The Loft Hair Lounge & Green Spa in Beverly Hills, California.

Go low-impact
A refillable bottle here, a canvas bag there. When saving Mother Nature, it all counts. These tips minimize your carbon footprint and maximize your beauty benefit.

Precycle: Eyeing a 0.01-ounce skin cream housed in an elaborate three-tiered box? Bells and whistles may look pretty, but they won't do a thing for your complexion. Opt for containers that limit solid waste when tossed. "Recyclable, biodegradable packaging and soy inks are best," says Lisa Rogers Sykes, an eco-friendly skin-care specialist for the Green Spa Network in Occidental, California.

Extend cycle: One way to create less waste: Use every last drop of lotion and potion. Here, SELF readers offer savvy advice:

"When I'm nearing the end of a cream, I use nail scissors to cut the bottom off the tube. I scoop out whatever's left and put it in a recycled bottle." —Suzanne Brown, Denver

"A lip brush gets every last swipe out of my favorite lipstick." —Sandra Micek, Menlo Park, California

Recycle: Sure, you remember to separate your kitchen garbage. You might even take pride in rinsing out goopy cans and stockpiling old newspapers. But what about the wastebasket in your bathroom? It could hold plastic shampoo bottles, cardboard makeup packaging or glass vials of perfume that can be recycled. Before taking out the trash, rifle through the tiny bins around the rest of the house, too!

Reuse: After you empty any beauty goodies that come in glass jars, clean them (rinsing with soap and water should do the trick) and use them as storage for makeup brushes, cotton swabs and homemade scrubs. Or pop in a soy-based votive candle with a cotton wick to create a spalike glow around your tub. These sparklers don't emit polluting black soot the way paraffin wax and zinc wicks do.

Decode label lingo: What these eco-buzzwords really mean

Natural Although not necessarily 100 percent synthetic-free, these products contain some plant or mineral extracts. (Read the first five ingredients listed to gauge how much.)

Organic Just like fruit at the farmers' market, products touting this term are mostly free of artificial chemicals and pesticides. (Usually 70 to 95 percent of the formula meets the standards.)

Biodynamic Ingredients come from plants harvested under organic codes; farmers also rotate crops to replenish the soil's nutrients.

Fair trade These beautifiers contain ingredients purchased at ethical international market value from small-scale farmers and laborers.

Vegan Absolutely nothing that's derived from animals, insects or their by-products is inside.

Conspiracy

Words of the day...yeay!! Conspiracy..
The picture above is the evidence that CSI:GGS got from the crime scene(hehe..no more CSI: New York or CSI: Miami)... it really shows a conspiracy between them...hehe

The Importance of Financial Planning: The key to S.U.C.C.E.S.S

“Failing to Plan is as good as Planning to Fail” so goes the cliché! As much as we hate to admit it, planning is an integral part of our lives, not just in our finances but in every aspect of our lives. Therefore, it’s better that we start planning early rather than regret later.

What is Financial Planning?
To quote from Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia: “In general usage, a Financial Plan can be a budget, a plan for spending and saving future income. This plan allocates future income to various types of expenses, such as rent or utilities, and also reserves some income for short-term and long-term savings. A financial plan can also be an investment plan, which allocates savings to various assets or projects expected to produce future income, such as a new business or product line, shares in an existing business, or real estate.”

Wow, a mouthful of words indeed! In very simple terms, Financial Planning is really about: 1) Knowing where you are now, 2) Where do you want to go and 3) How to get there. It’s almost like planning for a holiday with your family. Take for example that you are currently residing in Kuala Lumpur and planning to take your family for a Cuti-Cuti Malaysia holiday. You would first have to decide where to go. Let’s say are planning to visit Langkawi during the next school holiday. Then, you have to decide on how to get there. You may drive and then take a ferry, go by bus or train, fly or even take a cruise! There are various means of getting to your destination and the choice will depend on a few factors – budget, time, convenience and practicality. However, you may need to think of a contingency plan, just in case something happens along the way, like your car or the bus breaks down, the flight’s delayed or even a road detour!

Similarly, in Financial Planning, we need to know what are our current resources, our financial goals and how to achieve them in the most effective and efficient manner. Let’s take a look at some reasons why Financial Planning is important to everyone, not only to the rich but the not-so-rich alike.

Why is it Important?
Money may not be the most important thing in life. Nevertheless, it is still important! Every single thing revolves around money, from the time we open our eyes till the time we go to bed (and even while we are asleep!) If only money grows on trees, then financial planning would not be such a headache, would it?

Financial Planning is a systematic way of organizing our financial affairs in the most effective and efficient manner in order to achieve our Life Goals. And Success is defined as the attainment of one’s goals. In short, it is truly A Key to S.U.C.C.E.S.S.!

Sense of Direction in Life
Dr. Stephen R. Covey gave an analogy in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People that a lot of us get caught up in our “busyness” of life, to work harder and harder at climbing the ladder of success only to discover, upon reaching the top rung that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall! Through proper Financial Planning, we can then look at what is more important and meaningful to us. Then we can organize our finances and our lives around those things so that we do not end up on the wrong wall.

Understanding Trade-Offs/ Sacrifices
Though our Wants are infinite, unfortunately, our resources are finite! Financial Planning would help us realize and understand that in life, there is always Trade-Offs or Sacrifices to be made. By changing our good old car for the newest model or our “not-so-trendy” hand phones to the coolest model in town, we would have affected our retirement nest egg without realizing it. If we really want to achieve our important goals, we need to exercise Delayed Gratification and able to distinguish between Needs and Wants.

Coping Easier with Changes in Life
The only constant in life is Change and learning to cope with changes early in life would be a plus point. When we are still single and carefree, the world is for our taking and we could practically live like there’s no tomorrow. However, when we settle down and start to build our family, our world begins to change dramatically. It could also be the case of a person losing his job, going through a divorce, losing the breadwinner of the family or being diagnosed with critical illness. We are better prepared to face these challenges in life if we have done proper Financial Planning.

Creating Wealth
Ah, don’t we just love this! Almost everybody wants to be wealthy but few have a game plan towards achieving it. Wealth creation is not a sprint but a marathon for it takes time, discipline and a lot of financial stamina. With the help of a qualified investment advisor, we can select the most appropriate investments that suit our risk appetite to achieve our desired goals. By adopting various investment strategies and proper Asset Allocation, slowly but surely, we will cross the finishing line lifting our pot of gold!

Enriching our Lives
Financial Planning does not merely enrich us financially but also physically, emotionally and mentally. Without the financial stress, we will be able to focus on other important aspects of our lives like our health, our relationship with our family and friends and devoting our time to other charitable causes. We will be able to live a fuller life and in turn, enrich other people’s lives.

Security
One of the important goals in Financial Planning is to get a deep Sense of Security in our lives. We want to feel assured that no matter what happens, our goals can be realized, either for ourselves or our loved ones. Through proper Risk Management and Insurance Planning, we will be able to provide our loved ones and ourselves with total peace of mind while we go about living our lives and building our wealth.

Success

Yeah! Isn’t this what most of us aspire – to be Successful in life? The Oxford dictionary defines Success as “the attainment of one’s goal”. That’s exactly what Financial Planning aims to achieve – helping us realize our Life Goals. Our goal should not be just having a lot of money in our bank accounts but rather what can money do for us. Money can take care of our health through better quality food and health supplements. It could provide our children with quality education. It enables us to spend more quality time with our family and friends. It also helps expand our horizons by allowing us to explore and learn new things through our travels. Last but not least, it allows us to contribute back to the society through sharing of our knowledge, resources and time with the less fortunate. Therefore, True Success is not merely about how much we have (quantity) but the Quality of Life that we live!

In the final analysis, Financial Planning is really a means to an end. You have to ask yourself whether this is the kind of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. that you want. If you do, the first thing that you should do is to learn how to Manage Your Cashflow Effectively, which we’d be discussing in our next article. So, watch out for it and in the mean time, try to “Make Prudent Financial Management A Way of Life!”

Title: Aku dibuli oleh sekeping kad bernama Touch & Go!!

Assalamualaikum n salam sejahtera..

Good to be back!
Ari ni gedix nak citer pasal insiden yang berlaku pada gedix pagi tadi..
So macam bese r, bangun pagi2, mandi, subuh n siap2 g keje..tapi ngantuk sebab malam tadi gedix asyik terjaga je.. ntah sape la yg dok teringatkan gedix..hehe(perasan giler).
Pagi2 pukul 5.30 santai mesej & misscall nk gtw dia n gedik x g keje ari ni.. FYI, gedik dgn santai x bape sihat..Semoga diorang cepat sembuh..Amin. Jadi, terpaksa la gedix n housemate gedix (auumm) g keje naik bas, komuter n lrt.

Nak di jadikan cerite, time gedix nak touch in (Gedix pakai touch n Go k g keje!) kt ktm *******, mesin tu x detect (ape punye mesin daa..). So gedix dengan selambenye masuk ikut pintu sebelah dgn harapan mesin tu dapat detect..
Sesampainye gedix kt KL sentral, gedix pn touch out la kan, ye la... dah ade org jage, kang main redah je kang susah plak.. Betapa terkezutnye gedix melihat RM17 telah ditolak dari baki Touch n Go gedix!(OMG!)

Huh, segera la gedix bergegas ke kounter ktm kt KL sentral tu, nk tny pasal insiden yang menimpa diri gedix itu..Alih2, akak ktm tu cakap, gedix pny 'touch in' x di detect, so kene penalti rm17. Dia cakap kalo nak solve(means nak dpt balik rm17 tu), kene g opis touch n go kt kl sentral..Tapi disebabkan opis tu bukak pkl 10am, gedix pn g r opis dulu..maklumla, ade meeting pagi ni..

Haha..
Well, it makes me remind myself not to think too much on little issues..Some of us are just to bothered with llittle issues that sometimes affect our life..And also it affect our relationship with others. I guess I need to improve that side of me in order to be more focused.. and achieve excellence..

K2,cukup2 la gedix nak bercerita hari ni..Tp la, patut ke gedix g tuntut RM17 tu or redha je? Komen u olz,jgn x komen!

Pastu dr. tersebut pon ckp "nanti dlm kol 11.45 dtg balik jumpa Dr.gopi for pemeriksaan selanjutnyer"..aku ngan Gedik pon g la mkn dulu...sbb time tuh br kol 10.30...selepas mengisi perut yg x lapar ...kitaorg pon pegi la balik klinik...dlm beberapa minit tunggu ,kitaorg nampak Dr.Gopi asyik lalu lalang depan kitaorg..aku siap da terpk Dr.Gopi nih nak wat peragaan fesyen ke aper?? tau la Dr.Gopi tinggi x yah la nk tayang...aku yg pendek nih rilek je hehehe...tetiba Dr. Gopi panggil aku...n dier siap ckp ngan selamba biawak nyer.."aaa...yg bodyguard tuh siler masuk skali.."...hahahaha Gedik da wat muka hahaha kesian ko Gedik jd boduguard aku ...hehhe...So Dr.Gopi pon gtau la ubat aper kene mkn...Gedik siap kerek nagn aku sbb dier ckp ubat dier lg banyak hahaha...tp paperhal pon Dr. Gopi lu mmg sengal r hahaha
